An anti-competitive practice is any action that a company or a group of companies take up either deliberately or otherwise that makes it difficult for competing firms to enter the market or continue business successfully. Activities such as boycotts, price-fixation, exclusivity contracts, etc., are widely considered anti-competitive in the market. These actions reduce competition, increase market inefficiencies through the reduced quality of service, less innovation, and higher prices.
