Keywords: | Data driven;Fantasy sports;Sports industry | Issue Date: | 2022 | Publisher: | Indian Institute of Management Bangalore | Series/Report no.: | PGP_CCS_P22_109 | Abstract: | While there are broad principles to judge whether a game is dominated by skill or dominated by chance, there is a conspicuous lack of regulatory measures or schemes on the practical modalities and various methodologies to classify games into skill-based or chance-based depending on the dominant factor. The purpose of this CCS project is to develop a data-driven approach to find the dominant factor of the online games, with a specific focus on fantasy sports. Supreme Court of India defines games of skills as the ones where success is predominantly dependent upon the training, knowledge, attention, adroitness and experience of the user. Essentially, the probability of success is determined by skillset of the player and not by chance. The project involves understanding the context and existing regulations in India around fantasy sports, and coming up with a data driven approach to define and measure skill in fantasy sports, in order to objective determine the dominant factor in the game. | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/21987 |
