Abstract: Shocks trigger social or economical upheavals where as the dawning awareness on the other hand tends to usher in modest change. Dawning awareness came on with a rush and triggered an upheaval in the industry world wide. The buyers ore now no more dormant they have realized what they really want and the sellers are no more monopolist. The market is now open to all. The upheaval is abovt becoming a " World Class Manufacturer". Many manufacturers world wide have practiced different techniques to become and remain as WorldKClass Manufacturer. We in SIEMENS LTD. are trying to make the process so smooth that the work passes as though through a pipe line. We think that the Customer who is the King should get the right job at right time of the quality he desires at minimum cost without any efforts. This we are trying to achieve through "Business Process Reengineering (BPR) ". The process is on. As a part of this process we have already introduced some organizational changes. In order to focus more on manufacturing introduction of GROUP TECHNOLOGY will help. It works under the umbrella of BPR and makes the atmosphere conducive to implement continuous improvement programmes and practice PANCHA TANTRAS. This will also help us in achieving the goal of becoming and remaining a World Class Enterprise. Introduction of GT is suggested based on the groups formed by algorithmically altered machine component matrix. The other aspects as grade structure, layout changes and it's constrains, pereto analysis etc. are considered and a proposal is made. It is proposed to divide the factory in to 8 self sufficient factories* This will give various advantaqes some of them are high lighted as follows : 1,Through put time reduction by 25 % 2.Better communication and coordination. 3.Accountability. 4.Conducive atmosphere to implement other techniques. 5.Better moral of people. The proposal is made taking into account the implementibility. The investment required is negligible compared to the advantages. Considering the business scenario, the demands of the customer, the changing environment, the organizational goal of being and remaining a World Class Enterprise and looking at the advantages offered by GT it is concluded that GT should be implemented in Motor Factory. This experience should than be shared with others factories.
