Abstract: Digital Marketplace or e-Marketplace refers broadly to any Internet based system that provides B2B e-commerce services to several businesses, focussing on facilitating business transactions. Online commerce that creates value by providing relevant content & information and aggregating buyers & sellers. The Vertical marketplaces cater to specific industry segment. B2B e- Marketplace are more than just exchanges. The functionality goes beyond that of transactions and incorporate varying degree of content, community and value-added services. It is expected that the market efficiency resulting from Business to Business (B2B) e-commerce will provide buyers and sellers with unprecedented level of market transparency via online exchanges. Market transparency should produce more uniform but not necessarily lower pricing for similarly situated buyers. The project should concentrate on the history of e-Marketplace and IT Portals abroad as well as of India and find out the business process model to run such marketplace / portals successfully. Wipro is promoting an IT e-Marketplace, 01Markets.com for the sale of IT products to Indian B2B market. The marketplace will sell both Wipro products and other third party products, which are certified by Wipro. OlMarkets operations are analyzed along with what is happening across the globe and set of suggestions to future business is given in the road map.
